Last night, when the Mumbai Indians campaign dominated the KKR side with effortless scoring, multiple questions were raised for the KKR captain, Ajinkya Rahane. Even after scoring a total of 220 runs, which is considered impressive, the KKR bowlers are not able to defend the target and even allow the Mumbai batsmen to finish the game in just 19.1 overs. KKR vs MI full match highlights, One of the biggest questions raised by fans and cricket analysts during the match was why Cameron Green was not handed the ball.

The experience of Cameron Green was very useful for KKR in the first match; however, the captain, Ajinkya Rahane, didn't hand him the ball throughout the match, and this question has become one of the talk of the town. finally during the post-match interview, a journalist asked the captain why Cameron Green did’nt ball the captain of KKR replied with, “That question you need to ask Cricket Australia.”

The post-match interview with the captain

After losing against the Mumbai Indians, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders spoke with a journalist during the post match interview. When asked, Ajinkya Rahane, regarding their loss against the Mumbai Indians despite scoring 220, he blamed it on the inexperienced bowling lineup under the true nature of the Wankhede track.

While addressing the importance of Cameron Green in the KKR lineup, the captain said, “I think when hopefully Cameron starts to bowl soon, the combination will be slightly different. He further said, “At the moment, we have to balance who can bowl well for us. Batting-wise, as I said, better really well, but finding that balance with the ball is really important. So, hopefully, Green starts to bowl soon, then we can find out whether the combination will be okay.”

Controversial statement

At the end of the post-match interview with Ajinkya Rahane, the journalist finally asked why Cameron Green was not handed the ball. The captain of KKR, Ajinkya Rahane sad “That question you need to ask Cricket Australia.”After the statement made by the KKR captain aired, the commentators, including Ravi Shastri and Kevin Pietersen, were left speechless.

However cricket Australia responded to this statement quickly. One of the spokespersons from Cricket Australia cleared the confusion and said that Cameron Green is suffering from a back injury. The spokesperson further said that communication has been done with the KKR campaign, and everyone is aware of the situation. After this back and forth, fans have speculated that the environment of the dressing room is a little tense.

Restrictions made by Cricket Australia

Cricket Australia is the governing body of cricket in Australia, which manages all the Australian players. The decisions made by Cricket Australia are final, and all the players from Australia subcontinent will have to follow them. One of the decisions made by Cricket Australia is not to let Cameron Green bowl in the first few matches of IPL 2026.

Cricket Australia has claimed that Cameron Green is going through a lower back injury, which he has to manage to make sure he is perfectly fit for playing the rest of the tournament. The information was given by one of the spokespersons of Cricket Australia on FOX Sports. The spoke's person said “ Cameron has a lower back injury which is being managed but requires him to abstain from bowling for a short period. Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India, with a view to returning in around 10 to 12 days.

The biggest letdown for KKR

One of the biggest problems for KKR, even before the start of IPL 2026, was their bowling lineup. Because of multiple injuries, the bowling line of KKR was rebuilt from its very Core. The unavailability of Harshit Rana, Mustafizur Rahman, Akash Deep, and Mathesha Pathirana was very difficult for the KKR franchise to handle.

The most reliable option for KKR was Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy, but their mystery spin duo was ineffective against the domination of Mumbai batsmen. A total of 7 overs was bowled by these two spinners, and a total of 78 runs was given at an average of more than 10 runs. This is something to worry about for KKR.

Many cricket analyst has also said that Sunil Narine, an experienced spinner, was not introduced in the powerplay when Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton were smashing the bowlers left and right. Multiple questions were raised, and Captain Ajinkya Rahane doesn't have the answer for all. Not an impressive start from KKR in this season; however, the captain was determined to try new combinations and make things work in the next game
