Recently, the management of the Royal Challengers franchise has announced that their young pacer Yash Dayal, will not be a part of the RCB squad in IPL 2026. The decision was informed by the RCB director of cricket Mr Mo Bharat, during a press conference. According to the director of cricketer will not play for the team and will be unavailable for the entire season because of personal reasons. This might be a big setback for the RCB franchise because Yash Dayal was a part of the championship-winning squad, and he was performing consistently against all the teams.
Legal consequences faced by Yash Dayal
The legal consequences against Yash Dayal began in July 2025, when a report was registered in Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. In the report, a woman accused him of physical and mental exploitation under the false pretext of marriage during their 5 years of relationship. Not only was this another major report submitted against him in Jaipur. The report was registered under the POCSO Act and the Bharatiya Nyan Sanhita, involving allegations from a teenager who claimed Yash Dayal sexually assaulted her.
The reports say that Yash Dayal allegedly assaulted her multiple times in 2023, including an incident during the IPL 2025 season at a hotel. After a major legal battle and multiple problems, the Allahabad High Court granted a stay on his arrest in the Ghaziabad matter; however, the POCSO is rather serious, and the Jaipur High Court rejected his anticipatory bail in December 2025. Following these serious problems and legal medals RCB and Yash Dayal mutually decided not to participate in the upcoming IPL 2026.
Statement made by the director of cricket of RCB
On Tuesday, the director of cricket of RCB Mr Mo Bobat “So, just to confirm that Yash will not be joining up with the squad. as you know he is going through a personal situation currently, and just to clarify we have been very supportive of Yash to date and that's reflected the fact that we retained him when we had the opportunity to either retain”. The statement made by the director of cricket directly shows their interest in the young pacer.
He further said that “ we wanted to retain him and he remains under contract and will continue in the short term to remain under contract. We are communicative with him regularly. I personally spoke to him early in the morning, and it has been decided that it is not in his best interest or the franchise's best interest for him to join up with us at this point”.
The decision will directly impact the franchise's mindset and the behavior of fans towards the team, particularly with someone who is accused of violating the POCSO Act.
Impact of Yash Dayal in IPL 2025
All was one of the key players of RCB in IPL 2025, where he played a major role by taking a total of 13 wickets across the season. Following the final of IPL 2025, he has been facing major legal issues and has been out of action since the tournament concluded. His absence will be very significant for the RCB franchise because the left-arm pacer brings variety to their bowling attack and allows Bhubaneswar Kumar to get a reliable partner.
Since Josh Hazelwood is also out of action in the early stages of IPL 2025, the RCB franchise will have to make necessary arrangements to find a replacement for Yash Dayal, too. His absence will be a golden opportunity for other domestic bowlers in the IPL campaign, including Rasik Salam, Mangesh Yadav, and Abhinandan Singh.
Support from RCB
The Royal Challengers Bangalore management is actively supporting Yash Dayal and helping him to recover from the situation easily. According to the director of cricket, the RCB franchise went to retain him in the option despite planning a worst-case scenario that he would not be a part of the squad.
The franchise is helping him in face and allowing him to be a part of the RCB family; however, he is not ready to step on the field as a player. He is still a part of RCB and is under contract; however, “Yash Dayal's situation is tricky,” said MO Bobat.
Conclusion
As we saw last year in IPL 2025, the performance of Yash Dayal was extraordinary, especially in knockout matches. His performance against the Chennai Super Kings in the eliminator was one of the most memorable; however, because of multiple legal consequences, he is now out of action in IPL 2026. Despite constant support from the RCB franchise, the situation of Yash Dayal is very difficult, and everything depends on the decision made by the courts.
